It’s hard to believe that what started as a leap of faith has turned into one of the most rewarding journeys of my life.

When I entered the mortgage industry, I had no financial background, 𝐧𝐨 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝, 𝐧𝐨 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐛𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐧𝐨 𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞. I was stepping into a 𝟏𝟎𝟎% 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧-𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 where every dollar had to be earned. It was exciting, but it was also terrifying.

 

What I did have was something I believed was even more valuable:

 

A willingness to learn from the ground up.

Strong work ethics.

Complete honesty and integrity.

A marketing background.

An entrepreneurial mindset.

And an unwavering determination to succeed.

 

I started this journey while raising two little children who were only 𝟐 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟒 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐥𝐝. I was still working a full-time job, studying for my mortgage license in the evenings, learning a completely new industry, and building a business from scratch. Life was busy, but I never wanted “being a mom” to become an excuse. Instead, it became my biggest motivation.

 

Ironically, one of the biggest turning points in my life came when I was 𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐨𝐟𝐟 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞. At the time it felt devastating, but today I look back and realize it was one of the greatest blessings in disguise. Had that not happened, I honestly don’t know if I would have ever found the courage to leave the security of a paycheque and chase this dream.

 

Even after getting licensed, I continued working another job for a few months while building my mortgage business in the background. Then something happened that changed everything.

 

By 𝐦𝐢𝐝 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏, after completing my first two mortgage files, something clicked.

For the first time, I truly believed in myself.

I knew this wasn’t just going to be a side hustle—it was going to be my career.

I left my full-time job and committed myself completely. And when I say full-time, I really mean 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥-𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞. Early mornings, late nights, weekends, constant learning, countless networking events, marketing, following up, solving problems, and always finding ways to become better for my clients.

Looking back today, I can honestly say…

 

𝐈 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐚 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠.

 

Every challenge, every rejection, every sleepless night, every lesson—it all shaped the mortgage professional I am today.

 

I’m incredibly proud that these five years have led me to become one of the 𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐃𝐋𝐂 𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬, but what makes me even prouder is the trust thousands of conversations and hundreds of families have placed in me to help them with one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives.

There are two people without whom this journey would never have been possible.

You encouraged me to pursue this career before I even knew what was possible. While I was building a business with 𝐳𝐞𝐫𝐨 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞, you took on extra work and made sacrifices so our family could stay financially secure. You believed in my dream even during the moments when I questioned myself.

This success belongs to both of us.
